- The Philosophy of Endgame
Part 1 tells the story of Endgame itself: how I came to write it, what inspired me and what I aimed to do with the novel.
Part 2 contains an investigation into the mysterious events of the late 23rd century by Dr Wilhelm Zwölfbaum on behalf of the reconstituted World Council two centuries later.
Part 3 consists of deleted scenes from the writing of Endgame, including the original 2009 ending.
Part 4 is a guide to the philosophical ideas behind Endgame, from Ancient Greece to modern-day Europe by way of a famous 17th century thought experiment.
Part 5 is an essay on the philosophical question of how we are able to communicate ideas so that the parties involved are both thinking the same thing, despite being unable to see what lies in each other’s minds.
