Steve Shahbazian has won no awards, no competitions and is not critically acclaimed. Some of his best friends have gone so far as to describe his work as “okay in places” and his books have been in huge demand, mostly due to the large number of wonky tables needing propping up. When not writing, Steve can usually be found staring at a blank screen desperately hoping inspiration will come and, like every writer since the dawn of time, he’s an avid reader… although bizarrely he mostly reads non-fiction, particularly history, economics and popular science – as long as it’s in simple language he can understand.
His favourite authors are George Orwell and Alexander Solzhenitsyn and he decided to become a writer after realising these were the people he would most like to fail to measure up to. To Steve, genre present no barriers. Political dystopian, literary and science fiction, he writes across them all, being equally bad in each. Outside of writing he likes cricket, rugby, classical music and Belgian Beer as well as boring people to tears talking about cricket, rugby, classical music and Belgian Beer.
